f(x) = x + 8 and g(x) = x2 - 6x - 7. Find f(g(2))

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

Hello @Brandley17 and Welcome to OpenStudy! :) to solve for f(g(2)) first plug in 2 for x into x^2 - 6x - 7 so (2)^2 - 6(2) - 7 = ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then you need to plug your answer from g(2) into the x's in the f(x) equation

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

once you get the ? above, you would plug that number in for x into x + 8 then simplify and that would be your answer :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

still cant get it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but thank you

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

here, try this (2)^2 - 6(2) - 7 = ? what would you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got -15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right now add 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f(g(2))=-7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

CORRECT! all math is is plugging stuff in youll get it in time it took me a while to understand this stuff anymore questions just ask :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you

welcome :)
