What is the difference between...
A closed question and an open question?
a closed question is on that can only be answered with a yes or a no and opened is basically a free response

no problem :)
In OpenStudy, an open question means that anyone can answer your question and that if anyone looks into the subject that you have posted your question, they will see it. A closed question, on the other hand, can not be reopened and means that you have been satisfied with your answer(s) to close the question.
By the way, this question seems more like something to be asked in the OpenStudy Feedback section. Here's the link, in case you have anymore questions relating to the topic: http://openstudy.com/study#/groups/OpenStudy%20Feedback
