Do you think that banning books is correct? Why or why not?
@Smores @miss.happy @One098
No! its not! lol. you already know the reason cuz we talked about it haha
Lets talk bout it again XD
@Candycane @CausticSyndicalist
GIve me your reasons as to why you think banning books is correct or not
Although i am a brit. I still think and agree that it is a violation against the right to Freedom of Speech for it takes away that right from the author.
Depends, I know there was one booked that was banned (please dont ask me for the title right now i dont have it) because people kept saying that the book inspired them to commite murder, so it was banned from schools and libarys you can get it now i h ave a sample of it on my kindle.
If the author has the right for Freedom of Speech,then he/she should be allowed to say what he/she wants
certain Video games can inspire people to murder,yet they dont ban them
The book i believe is catcher inthe rye, the author of the book only ever wrote that book and three people said the book is what made them commit the murders
The ALA are the people who are respponsible for the banning of books, and their reasons to banning books include: ~Racism ~Homosexuality ~Political Views ~Unpopular Religious ~Profaine language ~Witch-craft
they shouldnt use those three people as a trigger to ban the book though
BOOKS ARE A SENSE OF FREEDOM TO MOST PEOPLE...
YESS!!! @demonchild99
i am writing a book and i think that without books for one...we would be dumb becuz books came before internet..and two when internet fails in the futer i would like something to enjoy during the times
Honestly @miss.happy the book is no longer banned as i said i could get the full version on my kindle (if i had the money but I dont) and there were large amounts of murders if i remember what my dad said commited by these three people they had a probably cause to ban it from Schools and public librarys. noe please understand I said it is NO LONGER BANNED, the government isnt stupid enough now a days to say "Oh theyre balming a book instead of takeing credit for their actions ban it" and if we were to bann books off of rascism might as well go wayyyy back and start with those.. Now please understand I love books, and I myself am an writer and am working on my own book, no I dont think banning books should be allowed but it happens, there are books I think that should be banned from maybe elementary schools due to their profamity and foul langue (The Adventures OF Huckleberry Finn) but not from the veiw of the public
For example, The Harry Potter Series is a challenged one. As it includes withc-craft. "Bad behaivor" =.=
hey i love harry potter
dang..{chrickets chirp}
Same here
im the only one who give medals anymore?..dang ppl come on
i gave medal to nathan
Sorry i had to get food i got really dizzy
its all good
So bassically I dont think certain books should beallowed in public school, as little ones may miss-interpret an authors meaning, but i dont think they should be banned from society
I desagree, and agree at the same time XD
Sorry not public schools elementary schools, and a few from middle schools, once they hit high school all books should be allowed because hopefully every one has matured enough to understand what the author ment
Hm, I dont know why I was tagged in this.
we wanted your opinon @One098
Oh okay, but I, for one, never read books, so I wouldn't know.
Heck no. Excluding it from reading lists, sure, that's fine. But outright banning a title? No. It goes against freedom of speech and freedom of thought.
I wasnt tagged, but this is an interesting topic that could last days. Yes, if many books were unbanned, many questions would be asked as to why?.. Well.. 1. Someone writing a book about how KKK or something else like that was a good thing is just absurd and yes, it should be banned. 2. Writing a book bashing someone else has been written many times; about celebs and presidents and such. No, its not right if its just gossip, but if its true, then go ahead. Yes, Freedom of Speech/Thought whatever has no meaning if you ban books.. But this is a topic to be further looked at then just "No, books shouldn't be banned."
That is my outlook on this. =)
I agree with you @inowalst
@inowalst The thing is, if people decide that books saying the KKK was good should be banned, where will it stop? To use an example---Books that say communism is good would be banned, then books that look at the viewpoints behind communism would be banned, then books that mention communism as anything other than pure evil, then books that mention communism at all; if we start using our personal definitions of right and wrong to decide whether books should be allowed or not, it's a slippery road indeed. I'm not saying the KKK wasn't bad, far from it. I agree it was terrible. I'm just saying that books saying it was good should not be banned.
