Question

What three things (developments, trends, people, characteristics, events, and so forth) of the late Colonial Era (after 1680) had the most significant impact on the later United States? Why do you think each was so important?

Please help! I don't understand and I want to know. I can't think of stuff that happened that still has an affect today after 1680. Medal to best answer!

I cited this from yahoo: The Great Awakening led to many new ideas in religion, which led to the empowerment of individuals and, ultimately, the American Revolution. The institution of Slavery in North America was established at this time, and had long-lasting consequences. Economic systems which thrived on the 'benign neglect' of Great Britain helped the American economy thrive, but gave wealthy capitalists the idea that they shouldn't have to pay taxes to Great Britain; a related idea was that residents in the colonies, who had no representation in Parliament, should not be subject to taxation without representation.

Yes, I do. I can't think of anything else significant. My teacher hardly explained anything that happened after 1680 and now he wants me to write 3 things about it! Once I get three things though I should be good. I really appreciate your help.

Oh! The Civil War. The war about abolishing slavery. If we still had slavery today...well I'm glad we don't.
