composition of functions, finding f(x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so its f(g(x)) so given g(x) which is sqrt x and f(g(x)) is absolute value of x what is f(x)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mean i know that sqrt x will also equal a positive number, like the abs value but how does sqrt x become abs value of x when imputed into another equation ( f(x))

OpenStudy (mathmate):

g(x)=sqrt(x) f(g(x))=abs(x) What can f(x) be, say if g(x)=2, then f(g(x))=\(f(2)=abs(4)=4\) if g(x)=-2, then f(g(x))=\(f(-2)=abs(4)=4\) if g(x)=5, then f(g(x))=\(f(5)=abs(25)=25\) if g(x)=-2, then f(g(x))=\(f(-5)=abs(25)=25\) Can you figure out what f(x) should be in order to get the above results?
