is this ascending or descending power of x ? x^(-4) + x^(-3) + x^(-2) + x^(-1) + ... this should be descending but the power actually gets larger so im confused..

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

write couple more powers and it might become obvious whether it is ascending / descending

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but the textbook says this is descending, which is exactly why im asking here

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

could you take a screenshot and attach ?

@ganeshie8 its below, i think this is only valid for x and not 1/x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is descending relative to powers of \(x^{-1}\), but ascending relative to powers of \(x\).
