Why cant I change my username in OS its just dumb

You might want to ask a mod.  But I think that we aren't allowed to change our usernames because I think that maybe moderators would have to go in and do it.  And then a lot of people would want to change their usernames.  OS mods probably don't have that kind of time.

But OS can't just mess up a username.  You probably typed it in wrong or something.

I know.  A lot of people would like to change their usernames.  I wanted to change mine at one point.  But i know of a lot of sites who don't allow username changes and OS just happens to be one of them.  I'm sure Preetha has her reasons for not having username changes.

They used the name as a database key.  That means a search of the entire database to change a name, which is very process intensive.  Also, many places won't let you change your name.  Make an email address or facebook account and you can't change it.  All you get to change is the display name.
