Let's pick a rectangular coordinate system so that positive is up and negative is down and positive is to the right while negative to the left. If you look at the forces up and down they are equal and opposite which mean cancel each other out. If you look at the force acting to the right is bigger than the force acting to the left. Looking at Newton Second Law \[\sum_{}^{} \frac{ F _{net} }{ m }=a\]A net force is all the end result of all the forces acting on the object.
