OpenStudy (anonymous):

is the frequency of sickle anemia an example of weinberg principle? Explain

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@shrutipande9

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

http://www.k-state.edu/parasitology/biology198/answers1.html see the 2nd problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what does it have to do with the Hardy-Weinberg principle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the principle only states that the frequencies of alleles and genotypes remain constant in populations in which evolutionary forces are not acting.

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

see the problem 2 below...it has mention of sickle cell anaemia

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know it does, but it just applies it to the equation. it doesn't prove as an example of the principle

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

it is..if we can apply the equation then it is an example..:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but the frequency of the sickle cell allele is not changing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and that equation only proves the percentage of the population that will be more resistant to malaria because they are heterozygous (Ss) for the sickle-cell gene
