The Europeans wanted crops and goods from the New World. The slave trade followed a triangular route. This triangular route was between Africa, the Caribbean and North America, and Europe. In exchange for rum, sugar, and tobacco, slave traders from Holland, Portugal, France, and England delivered Africans to the New World.
