The expression (tan x + cot x)^2 is the same as ____?

I'd distribute

so its

tan^2 + 2tancot + cot^2

then substitute

either

tan^2 = sec^2 -1

or

cot^2 = csc^2 - 1

but I really can't see how it goes.. sorry
