OpenStudy (r_josh10):

Naila had dinner delivered to her home from a restaurant. The check for her meal included three charges: the menu price of the meal, a delivery charge of 10% on the menu price of her meal, and sales tax of 5% on the sum of the menu price of her meal and the delivery charge. The total check amount was $32.34. (a) Let m represent the menu price of the meal. Write an equation that can be used to find the menu price of the meal. (b) What was the menu price for the meal

OpenStudy (r_josh10):

@iGreen. can you help me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hmm..I'm not really sure what it's asking..is it asking the price before tax and delivery charge?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

'Cause I'm not sure how to find that..

OpenStudy (r_josh10):

@iGreen. its ok ill find someone else but thank you for trying.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (mathmate):

If you add 10% to a price, the charge becomes 110%. If you add 5% to a price, the charge becomes 105%. So if the tax is on the sum, then sum = (final charge)/105% and if price of the meal is m, then m=sum/110% Hint: The final answer m is a whole number.

OpenStudy (r_josh10):

ok thankyou

OpenStudy (mathmate):

You're welcome! :)
