OpenStudy (gelow):

What is 24% written as a fraction in simplest form?

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

24% is 24/100 as a fraction, what can you divide both 24 and 100 by?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6/25

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

@AdonijahDavis That is called giving a direct answer, that is not allowed here on OpenStudy.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

@gelow What you are looking for in this situation is the greatest common factor, or GCF. The greatest common faction is the largest number that you can put into both numbers, but not the number itself. So for example: 4 and 6 The GCF is 2, as 2 can both go into 4 and 6, and it's the largest number that can go into both 2 and 6 equally.

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

So for 24/100 , we are looking for a number that we can put into both numbers equally.

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

An easy way to do this is to focus on the 24, look for it's multiples. 1 x 24 = 24 2 x 12 = 24 3 x 8 = 24 4 x 6 = 24 Those all the multiples. Exclude the first one, as the GCF can't be the number it's going into. The second is wrong as 12 can't go into 24 and 100 for an equal amount of times. The same goes for the third one. But the 4th one looks promising. 4 can go both into 24 and 100. So now we divide. 24 divided by 4 = 6 100 divided by 4 = 25 The answer is 6/25
