When Ivan III refused to pay tribute, Mongols came to the Russian borders. On the way to Moscow there was an Ugra river. On the other side of the river there were Russian troops. Mongols tried to cross it some times but couldn't do it. Then their leader khan Ahmat decided to mobilise all the troops of Great Horde for this purpose. Ivan III when he received an information that Great Horde is empty since all the people were on the Russian border sent there part of his troops. After Ahmat-khan received an information that troops of Ivan III are going to destroy Great horde he just made desicion to come back home. After Ivan III received information that Ahmat-khan decided to come back home he also decided to come back home.
