The Pretty Pizza Company wants to open a new pizza place either on the north side of town or the south side of town. They want to open the pizza place where the ratio of pizza places per person is currently less than 0.01. The population of 15 blocks of the north side of town is 221 people per block, but there are already 32 pizza places in the area. The population of 22 blocks of the south area is 150 people per block, and there are 28 pizza places in the area. Where, if anywhere, should the Pretty Pizza Company open a new pizza place?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe it to best to do it on the north side

OpenStudy (alekgar13):

i have the answers already but which option would be correct north: .009653 south: .008484 answer possibilities : south north both neither

OpenStudy (alekgar13):

@jdoe0001 what do you think?

OpenStudy (abhisar):

@Vollyball21 Please don't give direct answers.

OpenStudy (alekgar13):

especially if they are not correct...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Abhisar will do

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

well let's take a look at the north 15 blocks and 221 people each thus 15 * 221 persons there are already 32 pizza places pizza ratio to persons would be 32/(15*221) ----------------------------------------------- let's see the south 28 pizza places and 22 blocks of 150 people thus pizza place ratio to persons 28/(22*150)

OpenStudy (alekgar13):

which equals the number i stated earlier

OpenStudy (alekgar13):

numbers*

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

ohh yeah... yes so Pretty Pizza would want to open where there is less than 0.01 ratio both 0.009653 and 0.008484 are less than 0.01 or 0.0100000 so both meet that criterion but you'd want to do it with the one with lesser ratio thus the 0.008484 since there'd be less pizza places, and thus less competition, and thus more clientele and thus more revenue

OpenStudy (alekgar13):

but both are correct

OpenStudy (alekgar13):

do you suggest i just go with south?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

well.. both meet the criterion of less than 0.01 yes but Pretty PIzza needs to decide whicn of the two to open up at so that'd be the one with less pizza places per person, or smallest ratio of both of them since less pizza places, means less competition

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

but yes... I'd say, the south, or 0.008484

OpenStudy (alekgar13):

it was incorrect :(

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

hmmm

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

hmmm should have been the 0.008484 though

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

smaller ratio, means less pizza places per person so lots of folks going to just a few pizza places thus anyone opening there, where lots of folks have fewer choices of pizzas would have better sales
