Hook statement for an essay on the importance of responsibility? (9th grade) I just need help thinking of one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Clean up your room, and take out the trash!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"Clean up your room, and take out the trash!" Many parents forces these two duties onto their kids as their "responsibility".

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*These two household chores*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Better yet, "Clean up your room and takeout the trash!" Many parents forces these two everyday chores onto their children and call it their "Responsibility."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nailed it ^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

XD Maybe, yeah. Using a relatable example is a great idea. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which ones did you have in mind?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not sure. I've been thinking maybe "Everyday, we are confronted with countless tasks and chores that seem pointless and trivial--why should we bother doing them? Why do we need to take care of our responsibilities, after all?" And then go into the reasons why in the rest of the essay.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do chores without having to be told and doing them the right way as best as you can do them.

I personally believe that hooks should be tried to be kept sweet and short. Something that will capture your audience.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah. That's why I'm asking for advice XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sometimes, news anchors use hook statements at the start of their segment.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Something like a over used line such as "With great Power, comes great responsibility" (Most superhero movies, superman, spiderman, etc) isn't a good hook to try to use. Lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Try to start fresh, and a bit out of the box.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, that would be a bit cliche lol Besides, most people don't actually have great power XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Chores is honestly the shortest one I can think of right now. Lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Another one would be like "Work; it's the most hated period of the day by many adults. Even though they don't have to go to work, it's their responsibility, as an adult"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Chores is the shortest one I can think of though. Lol

Okay, well ty for your help! ^_^
