Hi, why aren't those enantiomers, but meso compounds?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (somy):

http://prntscr.com/63qtuq when you draw a plane in the middle you can see that the composition is same on both sides thus this is a meso compound draw same plane on the other compound and you will see that both sides of the plane will have same content

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Somy and it were S,S and R,R?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would that matter?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oe the only thing that matters here is the plane?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's what makes me confused tbh

OpenStudy (somy):

http://prntscr.com/63qw59 http://prntscr.com/63qw8v http://prntscr.com/63qwcw http://prntscr.com/63qwic http://prntscr.com/63qwoq if you want to name the compound - by its specific name/ IUPAK name, then you'll have to take account of S and R if its saying is it a meso compound or not, then you just mention it being meso or not

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks allot!

OpenStudy (somy):

no problem :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got it! thanks to you

OpenStudy (somy):
