It probably would cause more lag since it would have to render more code and more lag is the last thing OS needs.

Lag is caused by servers, OS is free so not a lot of profit, and what about all the dead codes they just have sitting around,  like color borders which aren't even used, and just take up a lot of space. If the servers aren't strong then neither is OS.

OpenStudy did not write MathJax.  They just use it.  To expand the $\LaTeX$ system would be to replace MathJax or write something else.  Do you have a replacment?
