First, we fine the area of the semicircle. The area of a circle is πr2, so to the find the area of a semicircle we'd just half it. So:\[\pi r^{2} = \pi (2)^{2} = 12.57\] Then, we'd get half of that (Because it's a semicircle):\[\frac{ 12.57 }{ 2 } = 6.285\] So, roughly, the area of the semicircle is 6.3, or just 6.

Next, we have to find the area of the triangle. The area of a triangle is:\[\frac{ hb }{ 2 }\] So, we'd plug it in;\[\frac{ (5)(4) }{ 2 } = 10\] So, to find the area of the shape, we'd just add the area of the triangle and the semicircle;\[10 + 6.2 = 16.2\] So, your answer should be B. Does this make sense?
