I don't agree. The only problem with B is that there aren't any quotation marks. First, try looking to see if each sentence has a subject (the doer) and a verb (what the subject is doing)

They looked like a volcano oozing lava, he thought. In this sentence, "They" is the subject, and "looked" is the verb. The rest of the sentence is extra fluff. At night, he said, he could see wildfires burning in the hills. The subject is "He" and the verb is "Could". Mr. Sharp's trip took him from Vermont to Tucson, Arizona. "Trip" is the subject and "took" is the action verb. A 757 jumbo jet on the way home to Burlington, Vermont. In this case, the subject is "Jet". There is no action verb here, unless there was an "is" between "jet" and "on", but there isn't.
