Please help me with this question :) Describe the possible consequences of a mutation on an organism. Describe an example for each consequence you mention

OpenStudy (zairahernandez):

Plants contain a structure called lignin which they developed by mutation as a way to stand upright. They previously didn't have this because plants originated in the ocean. It allows them to use sunlight more efficiently

OpenStudy (zairahernandez):

Mutations have one of three effects: Silent mutations: A change in nucleotide sequence but no change in the amino acid sequence of the protein or RNA encoded by the gene. Beneficial mutations increase the organism's rate of survival. Deleterious mutations decrease survival rates. Mutations in gametes will be transferred to offspring.
