“Hello.” “Hi, Jack, it’s Sheila. I haven’t heard from you in a while. How are you?” “I’m exhausted! You haven’t heard from me because all I ever do is work these days. I’ve had one deadline after the other for the past two months. I worked more than 100 hours last week! I don’t have time to keep in touch with anyone lately, not even my own mother! How are you?” “Oh, I’m great. I’m so sorry to hear about your workload. No wonder you haven’t been in touch. I hope you’re finding time to take care of yourself. Are you eating right?” “Ha! Are you kidding? I haven’t had a decent meal in three weeks. I’ve been living on nothing but junk food. When would I have time to cook?" “Oh, right. I’m sorry. That’s just terrible. Are you at least getting enough sleep?” “What do you think? I’m too stressed out to sleep at night. I bet my boss would think that’s a good thing since insomnia allows me to work all night. The only time I really get to sleep is at my computer, but I don’t have any control over when that happens.
