Why was the U.S. not taken seriously when it came to foreign relations? -The country did not have a strong government to make sure the individual states would follow national laws. -The country produced only a few, unimportant crops, so Europeans did not feel the need to keep a good relationship. -the U.S. government went against the beliefs of the American Revolution and put a new king in power. -European nations did not believe the U.S. would last as an independent country.
