Analyzing graphs!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1423789515513:dw|The first graph in linear and the second graph is quadratic. The question related to these graphs is, are the invertebrates the same size. if not which is larger?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know that the invertebrates are not the same size. I just don't know how to answer which one is larger. The equations representing the graphs are y=Ac, where a is some constant, and y=Ac+KAc^2

OpenStudy (doc.brown):

The graphs show the relationship between Absorption and Concentration of oxygen. Nothing else. Is one a starfish and one a fruit-fly? All we know is that they absorb oxygen at different rates with respect to concentration.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mhm, but the reason why they absorb oxygen at different rate is because of their size. lol

OpenStudy (doc.brown):

They could be the exact same size and absorb oxygen at different rates.

OpenStudy (doc.brown):

The bigger the insect (clams are invertebrates too) the higher the need for oxygen (so are worms). Second graph. \(\frac{L^3}{L^2}\)
