Did you check the OwlBuzz of January 2015? If you did, and if you think you're really smart - then answer the puzzles given in the Newsletter (OwlBuzz). @TheSmartOne - The one who picked and edited the puzzles will check the answers. Here is the link to the Newsletter - http://blog.openstudy.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Newsletter-January-2015-Issue-1-.pdf Thanks. Mathslover OwlBuzz Programme Manager, Designer and Team Leader

mathslover (mathslover):

Also, the first one who solves all these puzzles correct will be mentioned in the next month OwlBuzz. Although, do note that @Data_LG2 has already posted the answers for the Puzzles, if his answers are all right then he will be announced as the winner! ( http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/54dcbf86e4b07f4a24be7a87 )

mathslover (mathslover):

Note : in puzzle 4, it is "and the wind is going.." instead of "and the wing is going..." (Thanks for pointing the error @dan815 . )

\(\Huge\sf\color{black}{Answers~with~Explanations}\) \(\color{black}{I~added~explanations~to~show~that~I~didn't~cheat.}\) ~~ 1) If 5+8+3+6 = 15 48 54 3+6+4+5= 12 30 39 7+4+9+8= 63 32 92 What is 3+4+5+6=? ~~ This has to do with patterns. The first value in the first row is 15. 15 is equal to 3 times 5 which are the first and third numbers. Same goes with the first value in the second row. The second values are the second number multiplied by the fourth number. The third values are the product of the second and third number added with the product of the first and fourth number. So 3+4+5+6= 3x5 4x6 (4x5)+(3x6) The answer is 15 24 38 2) John’s dad had 5 boys: Tommy, Tummy, Timmy, Tammy. What is the fifth son’s name? ~~ The question says “John’s dad” so I’m assuming that his name is John. It’s a trick question since it doesn't have the trick we were expecting which is a trick by itself that is able to prove the whole thing false which would say that it isn't a trick question. Contradictory statement. 3) We see it once in a day, once in a year, but never in a week. What is it? ~~ The letter “a” doesn’t appear in a “week” so that’s the answer. Nice question. I’ve solved many of these before. 4) If an electric train is going south and the wind is going north, then which way is the smoke blowing? Electric trains don’t give off steam unless you buy the ones that actually have that specialized function. You can set the train on fire or wait for it to overheat. Then it will have some smoke coming out of it. 5) How many days have 23 hours? All of them. It’s simple logic. The question is not asking for a day with only 23 hours. Every day consists of 24 hours. I’m sure 23 hours can fit in there. 6. You are a bus driver. The bus starts out empty with no people in it. At the first bus stop 9 people get on. At the second bus stop, 6 people get on and 11 get off. At the third bus stop, 3 people get off and 5 get on. And after that every time 2 people get on and 1 person gets off. The question is, what color are the bus driver’s eyes? ~~ Make up some new questions please. I answered this question years ago and always use it on my friends. It says “You are a bus driver.” so the answer is the color of my eyes. My eyes are hazelnut brown so that’s my answer. 7) What asks but never answers? ~~ I’m glad this one is related to OS. But this is really old. I knew this answer about a year ago. Owls make the sound “hoot” and many jokes use it as a form of asking because hoot is similar to hoot. So I guess the answer is an owl that keeps on hooting. Keep hooting guys. ~~ Can you guys please make up your own jokes? I knew all of these jokes so it wasn't really a challenge.

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

@mathslover I can send my answers with explanations to you instead of posting it publicly.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@TheSmartOne makes these and @confluxepic answers them with explanations..hmm..

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Stop lying. You think I'm a dumb kid that steals off of my brothers work. Thanks for your mean comment.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

. . .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

'lying' about what? I never called you dumb.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just wondering out loud.

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

You called me a plagiarizer.

mathslover (mathslover):

@confluxepic - Thanks for your input. I appreciate that! :) @TheSmartOne will check out your answers and let's see who gets the first thumbs up :) And yeah, we do believe you confluxe... and the same belief is on TheSmartOne! Having a brother isn't a crime, and even it is a great thing to see that a brother is solving the puzzles picked by his own brother. This sounds amazing to me at least :D No offense guys, please stay calm and have fun. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I still don't get #5, is it like the chicken cross the road joke or something? lol. what's the connection of the color of the bus driver's eyes (my eyes) to the number of passengers in the bus? xDD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Data_LG2 There isn't any..that's just there to trick you :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Btw, I think you meant #6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

@iGreen. @iGreen @confluxepic didn't even see the jokes I chose. Or the answers. And let me go check to see who has gotten all of the answers so far :) May the odds be ever in your fave! =P

Nnesha (nnesha):

Nnesha (nnesha):

now i think *toooooooo late* to solve that puzzzzzzzle

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

You can still solve it :P

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

@Data_LG2 The point of the puzzle #6 was to confuse you with giving you numbers so you would add them up and then be like what, The eye color of the driver? lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh well lol, i was not confused though..i was like "wut?" T^T haha! anyway, those are great :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Amazing job, you guys always do an awesome job! Kudos to the whole team as always!!

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Well congrats to @dan815 on answering all of them correct :) And Congrats to @Data_LG2 for answering most of them correct and being the brave user to post her answers first :) And congrats to @confluxepic for explaining how to get the puzzles :)
