What is the area of the parallelogram? 1 over 32 square foot 5 over 16 square foot 9 over 32 square foot 6 over 16 square foot

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

what's the parallelogram?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b=A h

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A=bh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

h=A b

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

Can you draw it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

ohh, that's not a parallelogram... lol do you know where to begin?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mean not that one this one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

LOL 0.0

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

ohhh okay

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

well do you know where to start?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I will be a fane and give medal to whoever gives anmswer and explaines it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and no :(

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

well I can't just give you the answer, but I can walk through it with you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thats better

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

You know that the area=base*hight don't you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh yes

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

okay, can you tell me what the base and height are?

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

I spelled it wrong up there ^^ lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Base: 3/4 Height: 1/2

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

close. notice how it has 3/4 for the base, PLUS the dotted line that's not actually part of the shape. It then gave you 1/8 for the dotted portion. you need to subtract. 3/4-1/8

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

do you know how to do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that = 5/8

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

there you go. Now just multiply 5/8 and 1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

THANKS

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

Of course :)
