An object with a mass of 9.5 kg experiences a force of 19.95 N. What is the acceleration of the object? A. 2.1 m/s2 B. 17.85 m/s2 C. 1.7 m/s2 D. 2.6 m/s2

OpenStudy (holly00d1248):

@DarkBlueChocobo @Mesopretty

OpenStudy (holly00d1248):

A

OpenStudy (holly00d1248):

@e.mccormick @perl

OpenStudy (holly00d1248):

@zepdrix @whpalmer4 @paki

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

In general, F(orce)=m(retrice\(\times\)a(cceleration, or \(F=ma\). So if you solve that for a, you can use it to find the acceleration.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

bah. It munged the mass thing... anyhow.

OpenStudy (holly00d1248):

is it A

OpenStudy (holly00d1248):

@e.mccormick

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Yah, that should be it since all your units are standard (kg and N).

OpenStudy (holly00d1248):

ok i have 3 more can you help

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Well, I know the basic equations, but never took physics...

Mr. Temper was late for work one morning when his car broke down on the side of the road. After many failed attempts to restart the car, Mr. Temper was so angry that he kicked his car's tire and sprained his foot. Which of Newton's laws of motion should Mr. Temper have thought about before kicking the car? A. Newton's first law B. Newton's third law C. Newton's fourth law D. Newton's second law

OpenStudy (anonymous):

third law.. for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction :)

OpenStudy (holly00d1248):

thanks

OpenStudy (holly00d1248):

Which of Newton's laws of motion best illustrates the principle of inertia? A. Newton's first law B. Newton's third law C. Newton's second law D. Newton's fourth law

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first law.. that deals with inertia..

Cheryl has just climbed the steps of the metro bus. She begins walking 10 meters to the back of the bus at a constant speed of 3 miles per hour. At the same time, the bus begins moving forward at a constant speed of 3 miles per hour. When Cheryl arrives at the back of the bus... A. she will have moved 5 meters relative to the bus. B. she will have moved 20 meters relative to the Earth. C. she will not have moved relative to the Earth. D. she will have moved 10 meters relative to the Earth.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Every object in a state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it.

OpenStudy (holly00d1248):

one more please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i ges she wud not have moved relative to the earth..

OpenStudy (holly00d1248):

So C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cause the 10 meters she moved back is cancelled by the movemnt o the bus

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes :)

OpenStudy (holly00d1248):

ok thanks thats all

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok :)
