OpenStudy (abhisar):

Radiation is the mode of heat transfer which takes place via electromagnetic waves like light. It does not require any medium for its propagation. Example is transfer of heat from sun to earth via sunlight.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Other mode of heat transfer like convection and conduction need material medium for their propagation and can not travel through empty space i.e. vacuum.
