If sarah subtracts five times her number from 24,she gets 4 what is sarah's number?

OpenStudy (snowsurf):

Lets called the unknown number x. five times means multiply. So we have 5x and it said subtract 5 times that number from 24 and that will equal 4. So we can write an algebra equation give this info. \[24 -5x = 4\] Just solve for x and you will have that number.

5 x 4 + 20
