Will give medal! I need help with a Chemistry question. How many dots should be indicated in the electron dot structure of phosphorus?

the group number for only your representative elements (groups 1-2 and 13-18) represents how many valence electrons are on the outer shell. if you look at group 13 its valence electrons would be 3 Ex boron would be three valence electrons. You might ask why isn't the valence electrons 13? just because there are theoretically max of four orbitals and each contains two electrons. Its called an octet
