How can I get started with learning programming??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Typically one gets started with either books, classes, youtube videos, online communities etc. These days, I recommend codeacademy.com and try diving into a programming language like Java, C++ or Python. Once you get a base from there, try reading some books like 'HeadFirst Java' and 'Primer C++' to get a further in depth understanding of a programming language.

I think you would get much more out of reading some programming books. I would recommend any of the Head First books or O'Reilly.
