Why are the most-dense materials in the bottom layer?

@AlexandervonHumboldt2

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

Materials with more density weigh more. Any substance that has more density than water will remain the bottom layer.

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

do you mean in water? or anywhere?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in earth's layers

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

ok materias at first remain on the top. then when new top layers get press on old layers compressing them. this prsses takes thousands of years

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

new layers on top of old materials compress them. and old materials become more dense and are more old

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

all old layers are in a deep
