Can someone help me please? I will attach the problem.

Ok, so we can recall that the interior angles of a triangle must amount to 180 degrees. So the three angles that we see inside this problem, <2, <3< and the right angle must add up to 180.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 90+x+8+2x+7=180

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And the problem gives us some more information, it gives us expressions for the angles that we don't know. So we can put that information in the equation that we constructed before to help us solve it. We know that <2 is x+8 and <3 is 2x+7, so we plug that in and we get x+8+2x+7+90=180 (the 90 comes from the right angle) From this point all you have to do is some simple algebra to get the answer for x, but it's important to remember that we're not done at that point. The question asks for the measure of angle 2, so once you find x you can put that back into the expression for the measure of angle 2 to get your final answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yea that's right, the equation you typed will let you find x. Then you just have to plug that back into the expression for <2 and you'll be done. Good job!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

105 + 3x = 180 -105 = -105 3x = 75 3x/3 = 75/3 x = 25 ???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep. X=25. Almost there!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 25+8 = 33

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yea, that's your final answer. <2 is 33 degrees.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yay!! Thank you!!!

OpenStudy (triciaal):

another approach <2 + <3 = 90 <1 + <2 = 180 <1 = 90 + <3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you!

No problem Vic! Happy to help. Good luck in future math adventures!
