Dear rjk10892, are you specifically asking about MIT 6.00 Introduction to Computer Science course? At MIT OpenCourseWare, you won't receive any certificate for completion. However, this same course is also offered (authorized by MIT) at edX where you can work to receive either a verified certificate ($50) or an honor certificate (free) for completing this course and achieving a passing score on time (there would be problem set assignments, a mid-term quiz and a final exam all of which must be completed within specified schedule). Also, this same course is offered (again, authorized by MIT) at Curious Reef. There, too, you can get a certificate. This one is not time-bound; you can ignore the schedule and complete at own pace.
