Elm. Algebra question -- answer seems correct, however program is insisting it's wrong.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Could they be asking for total length and total width?

OpenStudy (luigi0210):

Also, perimeter is 2l+2w right? Or am I that rusty on formulas? 2*220 gives 440 which is bigger than the overall perimeter?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hold on.. Perimeter of a rectangle: \(P = 2(l + w)\) \(P = 2(220 + 44)\) \(P = 2(264)\) \(P = 528\) \(P \ne 264\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[2(l+b)=2(5b+b)=2 \times 6b=12b\] \[12b=264\] \[b=\frac{264}{12}=22\] \[l=5b=5 \times 22=110\]

OpenStudy (mimi_x3):

Yup I got the same answer as @Nishant_Garg

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Both values are doubled

OpenStudy (luigi0210):

Yea, you forgot to account for both sides is all.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep, so just divide them by 2. 22 / 2 = ? 220 / 2 = ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's why I asked if they asked for total length width

OpenStudy (anonymous):

44 / 2*

OpenStudy (ashleyisakitty):

Thanks, I was following the wrong formula. Thanks everyone.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Same, I was adding at first xD

OpenStudy (luigi0210):

You're welcome, and gewwddd lucckk
