What are the approximate solutions of 5x2 - 7x = 1, rounded to the nearest hundredth? No real solutions x ≈ -0.65 and x ≈ 7.65 x ≈ -1.53 and x ≈ 0.13 x ≈ -0.13 and x ≈ 1.53

Mehek (mehek14):

Did you plug in all the answer choices?

OpenStudy (nurali):

i think x ≈ −0.13 and x ≈ 1.53. One way of finding the solutions is graphing it. We can move the 1 from the right side to the left, so our equation would be 5x^2 - 7x - 1 = 0. After that, just graph it and find the zeroes. If you don't have a graphing calculator handy, you can use the quadratic equation to solve this too. Remember, it's (-b±sqrt(b^2 -4ac))/2a. The "a" would be 5, "b" would be -7, and "c" would be -1. :)

HI!!

OpenStudy (misty1212):

we can do this in like 2 seconds on the computer, maybe less

OpenStudy (ttp):

ok lol :)

http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=+5x%5E2+-+7x+%3D+1 click on "approximate form" and you will get it

OpenStudy (misty1212):

see it? it is the answer @Nurali wrote above
