OpenStudy (s117):

Which of the following can the reader infer from this passage? Drinking from certain plastic water bottles could be harmful for the body. Ten percent of the foods tested did not contain any levels of BPA. Eating refried beans from a can is safer than touching printer ink. Canned vegetables and fruits contain less BPA than canned soups

OpenStudy (s117):

The chemical bisphenol-A (BPA) has been linked to diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and obesity. BPA has been found in a wide range of products, from the linings in metal cans to some plastic water bottles to printer ink. New studies show that canned foods may contain dangerous levels of BPA. In one study, scientists tested 50 canned foods which included brand name fish, fruits, vegetables, beans, soups, sodas, and milk obtained in both the U.S. and Canada. Their tests showed that BPA was found in 92% of the foods they tested. They also noted that BPA levels can be different between cans of the same product and same brand.

@confluxepic @Conqueror

OpenStudy (conqueror):

Again, any ideas ?

OpenStudy (s117):

i think d

OpenStudy (conqueror):

Same, what about you ? @confluxepic

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Let me read it first. @Conqueror @S117

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Yeah. That seems correct to me.

OpenStudy (s117):

yay i got it right

OpenStudy (s117):

it was wrong :(

OpenStudy (conqueror):

You got it right and you got it wrong ??? I'm confused.

OpenStudy (s117):

i no like study island

OpenStudy (s117):

@EclipsedStar

OpenStudy (s117):

we confused

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Well, it mentions BPA a \(lot\).

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

So the next logical answer is...?

OpenStudy (s117):

b

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Their tests showed that BPA was found in 92% of the foods they tested.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

In one study, scientists tested 50 canned foods which included brand name fish, fruits, vegetables, beans, soups, sodas, and milk obtained in both the U.S. and Canada. Their tests showed that BPA was found in 92% of the foods they tested. If their test showed 92 percent, then it wouldn't show 10 percent.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

So B would be right.

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Yep, B.

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

"They also noted that BPA levels can be different between cans of the same product and same brand."

OpenStudy (conqueror):

10 percent did not contain BPA because 92 percent DID contain BPA. Understand ?

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Estimates.

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

^

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Yeah, it's an estimate.

OpenStudy (s117):

its not b

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

ok I don't get this question.

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

\(\color{blue}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @confluxepic Their tests showed that BPA was found in 92% of the foods they tested. \(\color{blue}{\text{End of Quote}}\)

OpenStudy (s117):

!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? :/:/:/

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

@pooja195

OpenStudy (conqueror):

That's what he said.

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

@inowalst

OpenStudy (s117):

@inowalst

OpenStudy (conqueror):

The catch is that B is only a part of the given paragraph, I think it would be A because that sort of tells you the main point of the whole paragraph.

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

That's the confusing part though. D would make the most sense, but it's not correct.

OpenStudy (s117):

study island said it was

OpenStudy (inowalst):

I have no idea, sorry.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

Ok, study island said it and that settles it I guess. :P

OpenStudy (conqueror):

Well, at least it's only 1 question.

OpenStudy (s117):

hehehehe not quit

OpenStudy (s117):

whoops

OpenStudy (s117):

wait not whoops

OpenStudy (conqueror):

Make sure to post questions separately. :P

OpenStudy (s117):

ok i did it because it has the same story

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

@Conqueror

OpenStudy (conqueror):

Okie Doke

OpenStudy (s117):

Which of the following sentences from the article shows that avoiding certain types of canned food brands may not be a good plan for reducing one's exposure to BPA? New studies show that canned foods may contain dangerous levels of BPA. Their tests showed that BPA was found in 92% of the foods they tested. They also noted that BPA levels can be different between cans of the same product and same brand. The chemical bisphenol-A (BPA) has been linked to diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and obesity.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

Any ideas ?

OpenStudy (s117):

ima go with b

OpenStudy (s117):

thats the other question

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Then can you post it in another post.
