1. Through the process of photosynthesis, plants make their own food using energy from the Sun, carbon dioxide from the air, and water from the ground. This food can then be stored for later use, or energy from the food can be released by the plant through the process of cellular respiration. This energy is then used to perform other life processes. What is another common use of the food produced by plants? The food is converted entirely into heat energy. The food is used by an animal when it consumes the plant. The food is vaporized to help fuel the Sun. The food is excreted as waste and is no longer useful.
Hi there...I will try and help by reasoning and deduction. Your question: What is another common use of the food produced by plants? 1)The food is converted entirely into heat energy. The word "entirely" makes this question VERY suspect! Energy is always transforming into other forms of energy. In physics, the potential energy of a ball held high before being dropped has energy in the form of gravitational potential energy and once it is dropped, that gravitational potential energy decreases as kinetic energy increases. Once the ball hits the ground, some of that energy is transformed into small amounts of seismic energy in the form of waves and some is transferred into heat. Being transformed "entirely" into "heat energy" would suggest a 100% conversion into only heat energy but think about the remains of the plant! There is always something left over in the form of chemical bonds like fertilizer that is used as a type of food energy later when other plants need it. Based on just these few ideas, I would rule out this answer because nothing that I know of is transferred directly 100% into 1 type of specific energy. 2)The food is used by an animal when it consumes the plant. Obviously this is true and a reasonable answer! 3)The food is vaporized to help fuel the Sun. This is stupid. Nothing on Earth helps fuel the Sun. The son is self-fueled by nuclear fusion. This answer is obviously not correct! 4)The food is excreted as waste and is no longer useful. This is wrong also. Excreted food which we call waste isn't a "waste" at all! It's fertilizer and contains very useful byproducts for other plants to use. This is wrong. I hope this helps! :o)
