solve each equation system by the addition method -2x+3y=-7 3x+y=16 what is x and y
http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/54e2bea2e4b0db7d6b0f6c2d I had just explained!
-2x+3y=-7 3x+y=16 solve 2nd eq. for y then plug it into eq.1
then solve for x.... after plug x value into 2nd eq. to find y
@KenichiIvy that wasnt correct
to use the addition and elimination method pick one of the variables and make the coefficient of that variable equal and opposite so that when you add the equations the variable will be eliminated. you will be left with a one variable equation. solve for that unknown. substitute this value in one of the original equations to get the value of the other variable.
for this problem I would multiply the 2nd equation by -3 then add to the first
can you verify the original?
the process will not change but the values I have are not integers
