Suppose for some reason you have to walk in bare feet across a short distance covered by broken glass. Would you want the pieces of glass to be large or small?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do you think?

OpenStudy (iluvsoccer):

Mostly small because you can walk swiftly and still not get hurt and if large then just tippy toe on the big pieces :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was thinking smaller as well p=f/a

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you make the broken pieces smaller, then the area of contact between your legs and the pieces also becomes smaller, But the force always remains the same. (cause force depends on your weight and how you walk) So as the area becomes smaller, the pressure increases. More pressure equals more chances of penetration. So do you want glass pieces to puncture your skin? :P
