A 6 story building has stairs between equally spaced floors. How many times higher is the climb from the first to the sixth floor than the climb from the first to the third floor?

Directrix (directrix):

Work by @Geezah_Yahoo How many flights of stairs should be BETWEEN the first and sixth floor? If you're going from the first floor the third floor, you cross one flight of stairs to get up to the second floor, and one more flight to get up to the third. Similarly, there are 5 flights of stairs in between the first and sixth floor. So the answer is ? @elikag92

Directrix (directrix):

Going from floors 1-3 is 2 sets of stairs. Going from floors 1-6 is 5 sets of stairs. So, to go to the sixth floor is how many times higher than going to the third floor? from @pyz01yahoo

Directrix (directrix):

@elikag92 What do you think is the answer?

Directrix (directrix):

The answer is not 2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3?

Directrix (directrix):

No.

Directrix (directrix):

Going from floors 1-3 is 2 sets of stairs. Going from floors 1-6 is 5 sets of stairs. There is no floor 0 to floor 1 set of stairs.

Directrix (directrix):

So, from floors 1 to 6 is 5/2 that of going from floors 1 - 3. 5/2 = 2.5 This is considered a sort of "joke" question or trick question.

Directrix (directrix):
