I will go through these and explain each so you get a better idea how to compare possible answers :o) Which energy transformation takes place when a firecracker explodes? A. gravitational potention to mechanical and electromagnetic Gravitational potential energy only exists when a body can travel downward. This answer would be correct if you were on top of a roller coaster track and your gravitational potential was turning into mechanical energy by spinning the wheels on the coaster for example. This is not the correct answer. B. nuclear to kinetic and chemical This would be an example of say the sun undergoing nuclear fusion and the energy from the fusing of atoms pushes particles away(kinetic energy) from the sun and eventually reaching the Earth causing the aurora borealis(the northern or southern lights) to glow as chemicals in the upper atmosphere get excited and release photons of colored light! C. mechanical to electromagnetic and electrical This would be like shaking up one of those shake flash lights. You shake it with your mechanical energy from your arm which moves a little magnet back and forth through a coil of wire inside the flashlight causes and induced electric field via the moving magnetic field from the magnet and causing electricity to flow and light up the flash light! D. chemical to thermal and electromagnetic This is a perfect example of a firecracker sitting on the ground, with a whole bunch of chemicals ready to give off a bunch of exothermic reactions, causing both heat and light(electromagnetic radiation) !
