how much detail do you need? The simple answer is that the chlorophyll inside the chloroplasts absorbs the photon (at specific wavelengths) and channel that energy into electrons, making them exited. Those electrons will be used in driving the reaction when the cell attempts to combine carbon dioxide and water molecules to make glucose
