What is the median of this data set? {3, 13, 7, 5, 21, 23, 39, 28, 40, 26, 14, 12, 56, 25, 29, 31} 23 24 34 40

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know the term 'median' is?

OpenStudy (lulubj):

sort of

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The median is the number that is halfway into the set. To find the median, the data should first be arranged in order from least to greatest.

OpenStudy (thebadyboy):

median is the number in the middle

OpenStudy (lulubj):

Thank you guys

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Don't you have to put the number in order from least to greatest? Then find the median?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, that is correct @sunsetsilly501

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@lulubj Did you rearrange the numbers to find the median??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Also if there is an even amount of numbers in a set like you have now, you take the numbers in the middle and add them. Then you divide them by two that's you median

OpenStudy (lulubj):

yes

OpenStudy (lulubj):

ok, got it thanks
