OpenStudy (ttp):

Which student factored the expression x3 + 5x - 2x2 - 10 correctly based on their answer below? Jane: (x - 2)(x2 + 5) Mariah: (x + 2)(x2 + 5) Roger: (x - 2)(x2 - 5) Nethan: (x + 2)(x2 - 5) Jane Mariah Roger Nethan

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do u think?

OpenStudy (radar):

Here is what I think..I would try the easiest way. I would look at their answers and eliminate obvious wrong answer. I know that the product of the constants (5, and 2) must result in a -10 and I see that Mariah and Roger got a +10 so they are wrong. That leaves only Jane and Nethan.

OpenStudy (ttp):

It's jane :)

OpenStudy (radar):

I know that the product of the 5 and x must be +5x and only Jane came up with that.

OpenStudy (radar):

This I know seems a lazy way, but it works.

OpenStudy (radar):

Anyway the questions is closed so I will return to my nap.
