round off $3.974 to the nearest cent. how do I do get the answer?

Cents go up to 100 before it changes to $1. So you can keep the 3.97, but you have that extra 4 there. Does 4 round up or down?

think about it.
each cent is only two decimal point. like, 00.00 when it comes to money.

in 3.974, the extra decimal is 4.

when rounding, i always remember the rhyme, "5 or more, raise the score". in this case, 4 is less than 5. so, then the number 4 would just turn into 0, and not raise 7.

so, the answer should be $3.97.
