For a human baby to be born a boy he must receive A. an X chromosome from the father. B. a Y chromosome from the mother. C. a Y chromosome from the father. D. both an X and a Y chromosome from the father.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know what the male and female chromosomes are?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes femal XX male XY

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct, now we can eliminate B because a female doesn't have a Y chromosome and D because your not going to get both chromosomes from your father, last time I checked you get one set from each parent.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it c?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hello?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes that would be the only logical choice here, as if you got an x chromosome from your father your mother only has x chromosomes so it wouldn't be a boy.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So that's how A is eliminated.

thx!
