Can any one help me out? Will fan and medal :) Which sets of numbers are closed under addition? Choose all answers that are correct. A. whole numbers B. natural numbers C. negative integers D. integers ...I think one of them is B
If a number set is closed under addition, then that means if you take two members of the set and add them, then the sum will also be a member of the set.
Here's a number family chart if that helps.
@Directrix thank you so much! I think I get it now, i'm going to try to solve this now :)
b
A, B, & C?
I don't think it involves C look at the family chart.
Why are you not including D, the integers? @k12_please_help
sorry my computer keeps freezing im no help I can barely see the question. don't listen to me.
@Directrix sorry I didn't realize that 0 was in the integers. So A, B, C, & D?
The family chart gives samples of the members of the named family.
That is what I am thinking. All 4 of the sets are closed under addition.
why the negative though?
Okay thank you so much! Sorry for keeping you, i'm not the best at math :p
The set of negative integers is the set { -1, -2, -3, -4, -5, -6, ........}. If you pick any two of them and add them, the sum will also be a negative integer. So, the set of negative integers is closed under addition.
You are welcome. No one is keeping me. I want to be here.
