I'm doing the way i'm doing because that's the way i want to if i wanted help on how to post my problems they wouldn't be as accurate as if posting a blank answer id rather cross reference then have someone just say yep that's right because what if they don't work through it also and just guess its right.

There isn't that many ways of doing this problem (i can only think of 2, and both are effectively the same thing). Just show us how you'd do it, and we'll tell you if it's valid.
