What does it mean when there are two little lines between numbers? Ex: 3 || 2 (I am learning about parallels and transversals if that helps)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Emm..what do those mean? ^ ^

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

\(l_3 ~|| ~l_2\) is a short form for saying the line \(l_3\) is parallel to the line \(l_2\)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

parallel lines look as shown above

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh thank you!

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

\(\large l_1 \color{red}{\perp} l_2\) seen this before ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No...
